Under the Hood
The Acer Aspire 5742 (our current model is the Acer Aspire AS5742-374G32Mnkk) is equipped with an Intel Core I3 370M, a 500GB Hard Driver which is a good value for the money, 4 GB or DDR3 memory clocked at 1066Mhz, and an Intel HD Graphic card which comes integrated in the new Intel processors itself. A standard wi-fi adapter is present supporting b/g/n standards, and all of this is powered by a 6-cell battery which lasted incredible 3 hours and 17 minutes while running standard internet browser applications and casual use with default settings.
It has the Intel Core I3 processor, the i3-370M model from the first generation. This is actually a middle class notebook processor which lacks the famous TurboBoost technology that the Core i5 and i7 have. It includes an integrated Intel Graphic Media Accelerator HD graphic card. What it also contains however is the HyperThreading intel technology and thus performs quite well, somewhere between the Core2Duo’s (2.5Ghz and 2.6Ghz). The Intel HD GMA is not intended for heavy graphic use, let’s say it is only there so you can be able to visually experience your actions on the notebook .
Nicely covered each of the specs….informative post! Appreciated!!
