Google releases new browser on the market called Chrome. The browser is said to be lightweight, fast and reliable. It is optimized to cope with the next generation of web applications that rely on graphics and multimedia. This release is beta for Windows, and Mac and Linux versions are on their way. “We realized that we needed to completely rethink the browser” said Google’s Sundar Pichai in his blog. The new browser will help users and Google take advantage of the evolving web applications that are challenging the traditional desktop apps.
“What we really need was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that’s what we set out to build” wrote Mr Pichai of the VP Product Management.
This is the biggest news since the launch of the Mozzila’s Firefox browser, and latest attack of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer which holds round 75% of the browsers market. Mozilla’s executives saluted this move of Google: “It should come as no real surprise that Google has done something here — their business is the web, and they’ve got clear opinions on how things should be, and smart people thinking about how to make things better Chrome will be a browser optimized for the things that they see as important, and it’ll be interesting to see how it evolves,”. Mozilla and Google will continue the collaboration on certain projects.

Update: The google chrome site is down at the moment. Site will be live tomorrow, speculations say :)

  1. Speed is the key feature for me and this one is built for that. The big question is whether as they add more and more to it if performance will take second stage to features. Only time will tell, but I am pretty happy with it given it’s a first release beta.
